We do an after meeting activity at least once a month. Check the board before each meeting to see if we have an event planned like Bowling, Pool, Go Karts, or Cruise the Strip.

Saturday - July 11, 2009 - "Cars of Yesterday" Largest Private Collection of Convertibles and Classic Cars. The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Newman Community at UNLV will be holding this fundraising event. "Cars of Yesterday" will be held at Jim Roger's Sunbelt Auto Collection Museum. This auto collection holds the largest privately owned collection of convertibles and classic cars. This event will have two show times, one at 4:30pm and the other at 7pm. The cost is $50 per ticket or $40 with the purchase of two or more. In addition, heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served with complimentary wine and beer. Other activities include a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. All proceeds will benefit the Catholic Newman Center's capital campaign to build a church at UNLV. September 17-20, 2009 - Silver State Classic Challenge - on Nevada Highway 318 near Ely, Nevada. The Silver State Classic Challenge is an authorized Open Road Racing event that is run on a 90-mile stretch of State Route 318, which is closed for the occasion. The event has been run since 1988, and was the venue for the highest speed achieved on a public highway, when Charles "Chuck" Shafer and Gary Bockman averaged 207.7801 mph in May 2000 in a Chrysler ARCA race car. Although high speed race cars receive much of the publicity, the majority of participants take part in mainstream street cars at average speeds ranging from 95 mph to 180 mph. These cars run the gamut from sports cars like Corvettes, Porsches, Vipers, Ferraris and Lamborghinis to sedans like BMWs, Mercedes, Japanese and muscle cars. The cars are run in classes at five mile per hour increments, from 95 mph to 180 mph, with the class determined by the vehicle's safety equipment and the driver's experience level. There is also an Unlimited Division for very experienced drivers with full race-equipped cars. Vehicles are started at one minute intervals and 30 second intervals, beginning with the 150 mph class and working back to the 95 mph class. Once the last 95 mph class vehicle clears the course, the Unlimited Division and the higher speed brackets over 150 are run as the final group. Thursday: 6:00am Qualifying at Mario Andretti Racing School, Las Vegas Motor Speedway. 8:30am Registration and 11:30 Press Conference Luncheon at Sam's Town Hotel and Casino. 1:30pm Caravan leaves Sam's Town for Ely. 7:30pm Cocktail Party at Hotel Nevada's Postal Palace in Ely. Friday: Registration, Inspection, Half Mile Shootout, Parade of Cars and Welcome Reception. Saturday: Breakfast, Registration, Inspection, Car Show, One Mile Shootout, Drivers Meeting and Press Meeting. Sunday: Start of the Event and Awards Banquet. Saturday, December 19, 2009 - “Christmas Toy Run 2009” with Santa to the Children’s Christmas Get-Together. All car clubs and individuals are invited to bring unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages 4 to 13. Meet at 11:00 AM at Mystic Lodge Casino, 920 S. Boulder Hwy (1 mile south of 215/Lake Mead Dr) in Henderson for the annual "Christmas Toy Run" with Santa. From there we will follow Santa's sleigh to Robert Taylor Elementary School, 144 Westminster Way (off North Major Ave), Henderson, NV 89015. Santa wiil hand out the presents at noon to all the underpriviledged kids at the school. There are many deserving children, and we hope to have another big turnout this year.
